What Indiana Jones Can Teach Us

June 19, 2008 | Leave a Comment

I just watched the Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It was an great show because for one reason, I’m an Indiana Jones fan. Watching the movie now wasn’t like how I used to watch it for fun when I was much younger. Of course the movie is still fun and entertaining but along the way, there are things which I think people can learn from Indy.

1. When you hit a dead end, look for solution in most unlikely places

In many scenes, not only the latest instalment, when Indy is stuck in a dead end or trap, he will search for a way out or to continue with his quest. He look for clues and search all the unlikely places to find the key to open the dead end or stop the trap. Most of the time, if not all, the key or solution is not in plain sight and requires some thought, analysis and courage to find the hiding place of the key or solution. Normally the solution is very simple BUT he still need to think through it.

In our internet home based business, we often face with a dead end and we don’t get results. What do we do? We keep repeating and repeating the same thing until we give up in frustration. No, the key to your solution is not in plain sight. You need to think through what you had done and analyse it. If what you have been doing doesn’t bring results, either re-think a new way or search for another way. Once you got the way, take courage and use it. Don’t let the previous experience of falling into a trap stop you from using the key you found. This is how Indiana Jones always get out of a dead end or traps. He just get going and don’t count the number of times he fell for the trap!

2. How much of human life is lost in waiting?

This is the quote from prof Oxley while he was witnessing Indiana Jones’ church wedding. If you remember the first Indiana Jones movie, Raiders of the Lost Ark, you will remember Marion’s character. She was jilted by Indy when they are young. Also they were suppose to be married but some how Indiana Jones just left her. We can only guess why.

In the end of Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, the circle completes with Indiana Jones finally married his love after many decades later. This happy couple could have gotten married when they were younger and enjoyed a more fulfilling life. This was why prof Oxley muttered “How much of human life is lost in waiting?” because so much time had been wasted to do something which you eventually have to do.

In our internet home based business, we get to learn and get exposed to many opportunities to make money online. Granted some are scams but there are also reputable and good teachers out there. Do we hold ourselves back in fear of being scammed? Then you won’t be able to get out of your dead end or trap.

Research and learn from teachers, gurus or experts who have “been there and done that”. They know the way to a successful home based business. They know where are all the traps and dead end and how to avoid them. Learn from them and follow the treasure map they lay out in front of you. They are your prof Oxley to guide you to your Kingdom of Crystal Skull. Don’t wait, just do it. Its just as simple as that.

Remember, you are Indiana Jones in your own life. You discover your own life and treasures along the way while solving your own dead ends and traps. Learn from Indiana Jones and succeed in your internet home based business now!

Build Your Internet Marketing Business Now!

Yesterday I received a shocking news that a friend of mine had passed away while hiking up Penang hill. He had a heart attack on the way up.

Last night while my friends gathered together at his wake, we were reminded again the frailty of our lives. We were also thankful that everyone met up a month and a half ago. In the end we concluded that we should live life to the fullest each day and meet up more frequently.

We are so used to planing ahead that we take today for granted. Our ability to plan ahead also breed a very bad habit…that is procrastination.

We always think that we can “do it later”, “do it tomorrow”. But we fail to see that tomorrow may never come.

This is most apparent in Internet Marketing. Many people may start an internet marketing business as a side business on top of their main employment. So they attend internet marketing courses and bootcamps. They will learn a lot of useful things but everything stops there! They never take action.

This is the scenario…People come back home after work around dinner time or after dinner. So its a shower and then there is 2 alternative. Whether you have children or not. Those with children will spend time with their children, those who are single or childless will be deadbeat and would want to relax a short while in front of the TV, Astro or go meet up with your friends. By the time it is almost bed time and you decide that maybe tomorrow you will sit down in front of the computer to do something. But the next day, the same routine repeats. Then we realised its been a month or year and we forgotten what we learned. Then we think it takes too much trouble, effort and time to run thought the notes again and leave everything on the shelves.

Taking action in building a home business in addition to your main employment or business is not easy. Granted that it takes a herculean effort especially at the end of the day you are drained of energy. But If you have studied all the successful people, they don’t get rich and successful by doing comfortable things. They always push themselves over the limit and realised that they can still go further.

Take one step each day and day by day your internet marketing business will grow slowly but surely. You need to put in the effort everyday and push yourself out of your comfort zone and grow your home business. Keep reminding yourself that today is precious and utilise it to the maximum. This is the reason why everyone says start something that you are passionate about. With your passion driving you, even though you are physically tired, you still are motivated to do your internet marketing business.

Time is running out, start your internet marketing business now!

Whether you think you can, or whether you think you can’t, you’re right ~ Henry Ford

Are You Attracting Negativity Into Your Life?

June 4, 2008 | 2 Comments

Last week I learned an important lesson from Steven Pierce, an internet marketing legend. What I learn explained all the “bad” things that happened to me recently.

When we are exercising the law of attraction, it is always about good things and about something that we want in our life. It is all the wholesome and positive aspect of our life, career or relationships. But why do “bad” things happen to us even though we have been actively attracting positive thoughts and goodwill while eliminating the negative thoughts and feelings within us at the same time?

Steven explained that some times in order for us to achieve the results we want, the universe need us to get over some residual negativity within us. Think of it as a hurdle to jump over to get to the finishing line. To many law of attraction veteran, they take these “bad” stuff positively as valuable lessons or exercises needed to grow and strengthen themselves. However, for new students, they give up easily when faced with some negativity thinking that the law of attraction doesn’t work. No! The process of going through the negative is a process by which you need to go through to get to your desired results. Getting over the “bad” stuff is what is lacking in order for you to achieve your dreams. So take it positively, learn from it and strive on.

Applying the law of attraction in your internet marketing business is vital for you to succeed in your business venture. You visualise the huge traffic visiting your websites and they convert like crazy. However, you don’t see the results. What is happening? Isn’t the law of attraction working?

The law of attraction will enable you to attract the opportunities to enable you to fulfil your desire results. But you need to spot the opportunities and take action on it. If you don’t take action on it, you will keep missing the opportunities that are drawn to you. Many would like to make money online are scared of being scammed or are sceptical about it. This will in fact be a self fulfilling fear. However, if you take action and stick with an internet marketing business, you will achieve the results you desire. In the process you will face difficulties or issues. Don’t take it negatively and give up. Take it positively as a process which you have to go through in order for you to achieve your desired results. These processes are just the universe’s way of giving you more knowledge so you can grow and be better equipped to enjoy your results.

Remember, those so called negativity you think you are attracting is really good for you. It is a process by which you have to go through to reach your goals and desires. So take it positively and learn from it.

Freely Graduates Gathering In KL

April 16, 2008 | 3 Comments

Last night I attended Dr Clemen’s 1st graduates gathering for 2008. Since last year’s GG in October, I was looking forward to his next GG to update us on the strategies to use to trade options in a recession.

It was really great Dr Clemen held his quarterly gathering for his graduates. We can get constant updates and there is so much that he is doing for his students as well as for the people who would like to learn options trading.

I was encouraged at what was presented last night. Without proper knowledge, people get distracted and get discouraged easily. I think many graduates have given up on options trading and I think its a waste since the Freely method is a good balance of risk and return which favours the investor. I suppose graduates lost hope when they made a few losses in the past few months. Then they focus on the losses, get discouraged and fear steps in. Finally, they succumb to their fear and give up trading.

One thing I learn from T Harv Eker is that fear is a state of mind, a build-in fail safe mechanism that kicks in whenever we have to make a decision. This fail safe mechanism is there to make sure we are no discomforted. Our mind is always telling us to do things the easy and comfortable way, regardless whether it is good or bad for us.

Whether it is online or offline business, options trading or any other venturers, we need to stretch our comfort zone and ignore the fear. We don’t blindly ignore the fear and do siliy stuff, but make sure that we finish the race despite of fear of losing. This is how people become successful. This is how successful people create their own breakthrough and get rich. They don’t get rich by doing things that are easy and comfortable.

I’m glad that I attended the GG consistently and keep learning more and more about options trading. If we don’t keep learning and progressing, we’ll be left behind in the dust as this world progress more and more rapidly in a technological age.

Learn From Malaysia’s 12th General Election!

March 12, 2008 | 3 Comments

Malaysia’s 12th General Election has finally come to a close. I have to admit it was an exciting time in Penang. It was obvious that Barisan Nasional was going to lose in Penang. Most BN ceramahs were quiet and deserted whereas the opposition’s rally was packed with people enthusiastically shouting their support for the opposition and frustrations at the government.

All forms of media were propagating the support for BN. The opposition only had the blogs and a few other independent news websites such as www.malaysiakini.com and of course youtube. Rally speeches were recorded and disseminated through the blogs, youtube and the independent news websites. These cheap and viral marketing methods manage to garner more support than BN’s media blitz. Truly it’s a David vs Goliath match in media muscle…and David won.

We can learn 3 things from what has happened.

First, we must constantly learn and develop ourselves. If we stop learning, we’ll be obsolete very fast. The opposition were hard pressed to spread the news of a need to change the way of governing. Due to the restrictions in media, they learnt to use current technological means of disseminating news. Blogs, youtube and websites have only grown popular in the past few years, yet the opposition is able to use it effectively. BN however, were ignorant about it until after the election. If we continually invest in personal development, then we can keep up with the changing trends of the world and keep abreast of new developments. This will enable us to find opportunities and seize it.

Second, blogs, youtube and news websites cater to targeted readers and viewers. They flock to such sites because they are looking for answers. They are looking for solutions to problems. In this election, the people were unhappy with the problems caused by the government, so the people were looking for solutions. The opposition provided the solutions in the blogs, youtube and news websites. Not only that but the blogs and news website also pointed out and reinforce more problems and provide the solutions as well! This is the way to be successful in internet marketing. You need to find a big problem or problems faced by many people. Then you provide a solution to the problems and charge an affordable fee for it. Internet marketing is that simple. But implementation is difficult because there are some basic technical skills you need to know first or if you are press for time, you can outsource it.

Third, know your competitors. If you are sitting in an ivory tower and don’t know anything outside the tower, you are being ignorant and doomed to fail. BN has failed to hear the people’s voice in the last 4 years. They also grossly underestimated the opposition team. If you apply this in your internet marketing or offline business, you are sure to fail. If you don’t hear what your customers want and just anyhow offer something which the market dislike, how are you going to make a sale? You need to understand or know your competitors so that you can formulate successful strategies to fight for sales. So, understanding your customers’ taste, preference, market trends and your competitors are very important.

The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

January 8, 2008 | 2 Comments

Last week my friend lend me her book, The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin S Sharma. I’ve read it over the weekend and found that it is an easy reading book with lots of principles and techniques to learn from.

Robin has weave the laws of attraction, meditation, diet and exercise tips and time management into a story to answer the universal question of how do you discover your destiny, live life passionately, full of energy and abundant of fulfillment and happiness.

His story is about how a renowned lawyer, Julian, who was working himself to death, managed to find the answer. It took Julian a near death heart attack to realise that he needed to slow down and reassess his life.

After Julian found the “answer” and lived it out in the Himalayan mountains, he returned to New York to teach his best friend, John how to achieve enlightenment and live life to its fullest. The principles and prescribe techniques are taught in a master to novice manner. So, if we follow the techniques diligently for 30 days, we can discover our true selves and attain passion for living, boundless energy and fulfilling happiness.

Those who don’t know the greatness of the laws of attraction and benefits of meditation should read this book. Those who don’t know how to apply the laws of attraction and meditate properly should read this book too. Robin will indirectly teach you how to discover your destiny and realign your goals in life accordingly. You need to start to change from within first, then constantly improve to be a more fulfilled and happier person.

“There is nothing noble about being superior to some other person. True nobility lies in being superior to your former self” ~ The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari

2008, An Exciting Year Ahead

January 1, 2008 | 4 Comments

As we wind down to the end of 2007 and begin our new year, many of us will be reflecting on the past year and contemplating what to do for this coming year.

Since 2006, I had been searching for a new direction in my work and personal life. It was in 2007 that my “eyes” opened.

In 2007, I had learned how to trade options, internet marketing and most important of all…the utmost importance of personal development in all aspect of my life.

I thought after my uni graduation, I only needed to do CPD hours for my profession as a Chartered Accountant. Little did I know that we need to develop ourselves even more, after we start working. This is because life gets more complicating after school, and we don’t learn how to live in school, college or uni. Living is an “on the job” training by itself.

I used to think that personal development are for losers! You just need to work hard to find solutions to all your problems. And that was what I had lived, a hard life.

“A formal education will make you a living, but self education will make you a fortune.” - Jim Rohn.

It was through my new mindset of striving to learn to develop myself that led me to many new opportunities as well as making more friends to help me along the way.

The most important lesson among others was the simplicity of achieving financial freedom.

I played Robert Kiyosaki’s cashflow game last week with some friends. This is a simple fun game but it has a lot to teach as well.

The 3 most important lessons I learned from the game which will form the basis of my new year’s resolution are:-

1. simplify your life and reduce unnecessary cash outflow. This include discipline spending and reducing unnecessary debts which have high interest cost.

2. invest in capital markets to grow your capital for investments and reinvest your returns or use returns to reduce high interest debts.

3. regardless of how small is the investment, as long as it has positive cashflow, get it! This is to grow multiple streams of passive income bit by bit.

My new year’s resolution is to achieve financial freedom this year. To achieve my goal, I plan to do the following 3 steps:

1. set up a money management system according to T Harv Eker’s money jar system (do yourself a favour and read his book to learn the simplicity of achieving financial freedom).

2. trade options because options have limited risk, have better leverage than trading shares and you can earn regardless of market direction.

3. build up my internet marketing knowledge and translate my knowledge into various streams of internet business to grow my passive income.

It looks like I’m going to be doubly busy with so many things to do. But this challenge is really motivating because our future is not determined by our past but by what we do now.

T Harv Eker’s Millionaire Mind Intensive

December 2, 2007 | 2 Comments

I’ve been away in S’pore for 1 week & attended the T Harv Eker’s MMI. What can I say? Its damn good man! And that is an understatement.

The MMI was held in S’pore Expo and there were about 5000+ participant.

There are about 5 different sections just to register and each section has more than 10 counters.

MMI-registration
Registration at 1 of the section

1st Day
5000+ participants in 1 hall

Harv’s MMI really made us analyse our own money blueprint and help us to change our blue print to achieve our true potential. We get to understand ourselves more and also what is holding us back from being successful. Couples also get to understand each other’s blueprint which help to resolve many money related disagreements.

There were exercises and activities that help us to further understand our current financial status and also to help many of us to let go of our non-supportive thoughts and attitude which are holding us back from our achievements. Some participants even shared their personal problems which were weighing down on them and found peace letting it out. They should be on their way on being a millionaire now!

I learn a lot of things during the seminar, one of which was a systematic and practical way of money management which has a good balance of using the money for education, buying high value stuff, daily necessities, charity, investments and finally to pamper myself.

Harv and his coach, Rob, also taught us the true meaning of financial freedom and wealth. What it means to be financial free, what is being rich and wealthy. All these have a step by step and systematic approach to achieve them. It was really enlightening that being financialy free is not as difficult as what I had thought.

The highlight of the whole seminar was the last exercise on the last day. We had to break a real arrow with our throat. Yup its like those shaolin monks in kung fu movies. The arrow breaking exercise is to show that fear is intangible and its something we perceive in our minds. This fear is holding us back from doing things and being successful too. We have to act in spite of fear and after we have done it, then only we know its not so scary or difficult.

Arrow Breaking
Did I break the arrow? YES!

I’m glad I came to this seminar as I had learn heaps. I hope other will attend this seminar too as it’ll help each of us understand how to be rich. Success Resources, the organiser, said that in May 2008 they’ll bring Harv and his team to Malaysia for the MMI seminar. That is your chance to attend this great training for you to be a millionaire.

You can also read Harv’s book Secrets of the Millionaire Mind which forms about 30% of the real seminar.
